ABOUT
I did some research online to find a better planter that would hold up well in this Texas heat. I wanted a natural planter because plastic is harmful to the soil, ceramics and clay are heavy! Then, I came across an article about hypertufa planters.
It said hypertufa was first invented in the Alpines back in the early 1900's. They would grow their vegetables and herbs in troughs made with hypertufa because it would not crack in freezing temperatures. Well, I figured it had to work in well above 100 degree temperatures, and it has not proved me wrong yet.
So, practice I did!
Over time, I found more ways to enjoy making planters to fit with my love of natural things.
I've had my planters for 3 years and they still look brand new today. They have been exposed to the extreme Texas heat, no dry rotting, not even a crack! In fact, the longer these cure, the stronger they get.
Another benefit of hypertufa, soil is able to breathe due to the porous nature of the material allowing more air flow to the roots. This is vital for a healthier plant.
Did I mention, these are Eco-friendly! I will never use paints, only natural minerals to stain them. I've got a 3 yr. old grandaughter. I'm going to look out for her future as best I can.
I hope you enjoy these planters as much as I do!
Keep your eyes open for more designs. I've always got my imagination running 100 miles an hour.
